Amy's Greenhouse is a living memorial to Amy O'Doherty who perished at the age of 23 on September 11th, 2001 at the World Trade Center. Amy was the daughter of Geraldine Davie, a since retired teacher at Barnard Early Childhood Center in New Rochelle, NY.

Patio and Engraved Bricks

"This wonderful and spacious brick patio was dedicated on Friday, May 9th.The patio of tan rectangular paving stones in a herringbone pattern was generously donated by Sammarco, Stone & Supply and Frank Miceli.  Sammarco, Stone & Supply also funded the installation of the pavers.  The patio was installed by Ray Batista and his crew from Cardinalli Paving, Inc.  It is large enough for events and activities.  It is surrounded by a low wall, perfect for children to sit on.  Two columns mark the entrance to the patio and greenhouse area.  The patio grounds the greenhouse in its environment and nicely connects it to the gazebo.  The walls keep children within an area and the floors keeps their feet neat.  The design of the patio was originally drawn gratis by Gustavo Capparelli from F. Capparelli Landscape Design. A custom made sunflower medallion marks the center of the patio area.  Sunflowers were the favorite flower of Amy O'Doherty, for whom the greenhouse is named.  A beautiful custom made brick mosaic flag in a circle was installed in the patio over the summer of 2009.  Installation by Sal Barajas and his crew at Barajas Contracting Corp.  The piece was a gift of US Airways flight attendant Marianne Moore and her colleagues.  It was unveiled on the eight anniversary of 9-11 in a ceremony."
